The PreK4 program at St.
Viator School strives to provide every child with a faith-based, child centered,
learning experience! We employ
multi-sensory, hands-on, child directed approaches to learning, which allows
children to learn, grow, and explore wherever they might be in their
development.
Reading Readiness:
PreK4 uses a literature based program, and also includes the following areas:
* Name Recognition
* Name Formation
* Letter Recognition
* Letter-Sound Recognition
* Letter Formation
* Auditory and Visual Discrimination
* Listening Comprehension
* Memory Recall
* Recognition of Color Names (some sight words)
Language Arts:
The Language Arts program extends beyond the “Happily Ever After” series and includes the following activities:
* Literature Appreciation
* Journal Writing/Drawing
* Creating Class Books
Math Readiness: Our program is manipulative based, linked to Literature, and includes the following areas:
*Recognition and Formation of Numbers 0-20
*Counting and Grouping Objects
* Graphing
* Measurement
* Shapes
* Position, Sequencing, Patterning, Classification, Matching and Comparing
Religion:
We use the “Stories of God’s Love” series.
* Teach the sign of the cross and the Lord’s Prayer
* Identify the Holy Family
* Celebration of religious holidays
